How The Idea Was Born
“The idea of hosting a gravel race at home was born in Emporia, Kansas. After an unforgettable week filled with friends, good energy, and the spirit of gravel, I came home inspired to create an ultra event like Unbound of our own. With the support of family, teammates, friends, and generous sponsors, we’re bringing that vision to life — crafting a beautiful race on our rugged, sandy gravel roads here in Florida.”

About “The Cowboy Cyclist”
Cycling is more than just a sport — it's a vehicle for connection, empowerment, and community building. Few embody this philosophy more than "Oty" The Cowboy Cyclist, a Cuban cyclist whose passion for biking extends far beyond personal achievement. Residing in Tampa, Florida, Oty has built a strong network of supportive cyclists who share his belief that cycling should be accessible, inclusive, and driven by genuine enthusiasm.
Oty’s journey is truly inspiring. Born in Cuba in 1987, he relocated to Norway in 2008 and later moved to Spain in 2015. His athletic career initially began in volleyball, playing in the first division for seven years before discovering his love for cycling in 2011. Since then, he has explored a vast array of disciplines, including MTB, road cycling, triathlon, duathlon, marathon, cyclocross, crit, gravel, ultracycling, brevet 300, Everesting (8000 m) and across Norway expending more than 5 weeks hiking over fjords and frozen mountains. His passion extends beyond competition, as he has participated in charity rides benefiting cancer patients and orphans.
For Oty, cycling is about more than just the ride — it’s about the people, the places, and the shared experiences. His dedication to fostering a strong cycling community in Florida, alongside his sponsors and fellow riders, showcases the transformative power of the sport. Whether he’s training for an ultracycling event or leading charity rides, Oty remains a beacon of motivation for cyclists everywhere.
